

The making of “Momentary Shift” by Eran Webber and the Carpaccio Bar.

When I started working on this piece, the model’s appearance and character reminded me of the mythological god Pan (also known as the god of shepherds and flocks, of rustic music and the bringer of the spring). Among his many traits, Pan is, of course, very well known for having a strong attraction to nymphs.
‘Momentary Shift’ is the name of the last drawing in a series of ‘chalk-on-board’ concept drawings that I did at the Carpaccio Bar in Tel-Aviv September 2010. Through fun brain- storming that took about a week, with the highly creative owners of the Bar, we were able to conceptualize the idea of the drawing. It took another week to execute the actual drawing, featuring Alex the cook. The work was made with only white chalk, no fixative, with part of the idea being that it would be worn away over time- a true temporary art…
